Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Exciting things are happening!!
So many great things are happening. We had a busy but blessed furlough. We are back on the field and already have seen God performing miracles.
We are thankful for the wonderful furlough that we had. God allowed us to visit most of our supporting churches and many new churches. We had a wonderful time getting reacquainted with so many of you and to be able to personally thank you for your partnership in prayer and financial giving. We were blessed also by many new churches that partnered with us as well during this time.
Now we are back on the field. I (Stephen) came down the end of January to set up the house we will be staying while we build our new house. I was the main speaker at family camp. With over 250 campers, family camp was very exciting. This camp started on Friday and went thru Wednesday. During camp there were 10 souls that made professions of faith accepting Jesus Christ as their personal savior. AMEM!
There were also others that rededicated their lives to the Lord and others that surrendered to service. It has been amazing to see God using this place over and over again as souls are being saved and answering the call for service. Please pray for this camp ministry. Since we have arrived here and have been involved in family camp, we have seen that the needs are great. There is a great need for man power to help in the upkeep of all the buildings and the grounds, and there is also a great financial need. There are some major repairs that need to be done. Most pressing are both the ladies’ dorm and men’s dorm, which need to have the old roofs taken off and new ones put on. We are needing to remove the old wooden structure and replace it with a metal structure. We are also needing to do some major remodeling to the dorms to make them safer and more comfortable. This project would require 15,000 dollars for each dorm to be able to do this type of work. Please pray with us about this, and if you would like to help with this, please send any offering to Macedonia World Baptist Missions, designating it for camp ministry.
As soon as camp was over, our move arrived from Rio Branco (over 1,000 miles) to Varzea Grande. I was able to get the caretaker’s house set up with our things before the rest of the family arrived from the United States. Kelly, Hannah, Joshua, and Benjamin came down around the end of February. We are now ready to start on our house project. In fact, we hope to start cleaning up the spot for the house tomorrow. Your prayers for this project would be coveted as well. The caretaker’s house that we are in right now is a little over 700 square feet, which is small but it is working well for the time being. We would like to have our house up and moved in as soon as possible so that we can concentrate 100% on the work that is before us here.
As soon as possible, we also will be starting some work on the building that will be the new church plant. We are excited about this as well. Please remember to pray for the new church plant; to be able to see souls saved and trained for the ministry will be an answer to prayer.
I am also participating in a training program where there are already 6 young men being taught homiletics. These young men have shown interest in studying the Bible; and even though we do not have a Bible institute, we want to keep these young men focused in the Word while we structure a Bible institute. We are praying that God will send forth laborers into HIS harvest. Only God knows if one of these young men will be the pastor of the new church plant. I am working with my brother Peter and a national pastor Wanderley concerning a Bible institute, and we are also working together with this training program.
A last request is to please pray for us as we are here in Brazil Our oldest son is back in the states at college, and with this, come a lot of new feelings and emotions; but nothing that God cannot take care of. Hannah will returning to the states soon to start college. Transition is never easy, but we know that God loves them more than we ever could. He will take care of them far better than we could ever even imagine.
Thank you for your prayers and financial support. If you would like to see first hand what we are doing, please feel free to come down and check it out. Just be ready to work.
Stephen, Kelly, Philip, Hannah, Joshua, and Benjamin
