Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” 1 Co 15:58
The Lord has been blessing in so many ways. Last Sunday, June 25th, marked three months since we started this church plant. We are excited, encouraged and reassured that we are where the Lord would have us to be. God has answered prayers as we have seen the church growing and more souls being saved. As mentioned in the last letter, we had three souls saved and had already started discipleship studies with them in their homes. Since then we have had five more souls saved and have started discipleship studies with these as well.
When we started this church plant, we began with three services a week, Sunday morning at 8:30, Sunday night at 7:00 and Wednesday night at 7:00. There have been services when it has just been our family, but for the most part we have always had others present. Our highest number so far has been 26 on one Sunday morning and 22 of those were children. On one Sunday night, we had 25 with mostly adults.
Since our last prayer letter, we have started a Children’s Bible Club and free English classes. God has used and blessed both. With the Children’s Bible Club, we run our Kombi (VW Van) on a bus route. We fill the van up and bring them in on Saturday morning for the Children’s Bible Club and for Sunday morning for Sunday school. It has been some challenging, but very gratifying to know that God’s Word is having an impact on these little lives.
The English classes we started with the purpose to reach the lost as well. God has given us a good group to work with. It is free, but we ask the students to come one service a month on a Sunday night. That is our evangelistic service. Last Sunday two of the students accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior. How excited we have been to see fruit from this ministry so soon. During the English classes we teach them the Roman’s Road in English which has to be translated to Portuguese. This gives us more opportunity to expose them to the Gospel.
On July 22nd, we will be starting a couple’s Bible study. God has given us four couples to start with, and we are praying in two ways. Spiritual growth for the saved and more couples to be saved.
So, you can know better how to pray, here is what our week looks like. Tuesday we have our English class, Wednesday night Bible study and prayer service, Thursday and Friday in home discipleship classes in the afternoon and evenings. The rest of the time is filled in with personal time with the Lord and preparations for the activities of the week. Mondays we try to keep as family time.
Here are the names for you to pray for in their growth in the Lord. Edemar, Melaine, Junior, William, (William’s wife Marilei has not made a profession yet; pray for her salvation) Rogerio, Amanda, Maycon, (an English student) and Adriana (an English student). Pray for the salvation of Adriana’s husband as well.
Special prayer requests
Continue to pray for Kelly’s mom, Mary, and her treatment for lymphoma. Also Kelly’s step-dad, Don, recently had a heart attack, but praise the Lord is doing well after a stint was put in.
Pray for a dear Christian lady, Marlete. She is the wife of a Brazilian missionary that works with the Kaxinawa Indians. These are the missionaries we visited on several occasions while serving in Acre. While she was delivering her baby via C-section, the doctors discovered a big tumor. It is malignant and they suspect it is very advanced. This family is very dear to us and true servants of the Most High. Pray for this family, Andre, Marlete and the children, Eduarda, Ester and Andre Jr.
Thank you once again for what you do to make it possible for us to reach the people here with the Gospel.
We now have a permanent PO Box here. Please make a note of the change. Thank you.
