May/June 2018

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

“Neither is there salvation in any other:

for there is none other name under heaven given among men,

whereby we must be saved.”  Acts 4:12

Church Plant

God continues to do great things!  We have had three more professions of faith, which is always exciting.  Nariele is 10 years old and came to our first service here in Guarantã.  Now after over a year she made a profession of faith.  Another is João Paulo (John Paul).  In our January/February prayer letter we mentioned his wife got saved and asked prayer for her husband’s salvation.  Praise the Lord he accepted Christ as his Savior.  One Sunday after Sunday School Jeferson came up to me and said he wanted to get saved.  This was really exciting seeing as our son Benjamin had taught the class.  God is good all the time!

God has been working in the church here.  We have two women that help with the small children during service which is a big blessing and a big help for Kelly.

This month it was wonderful to see the first couple that got saved get legally married.  It has been encouraging to see them grow in the Lord.  This past Sunday Night, Edemar said he wanted to talk to me after service.  I cannot tell you the excitement that I felt when he said he wanted to get involved in the work.  I have been praying for God to raise up men here in this city that are willing to pay the price and count the cost.  Pray for Edemar as I will start training him very soon.

We have a couple’s Bible study once a month.  We were blessed to have seven couples this past meeting.  We had a great time and what made it even better was that we had a couple from Matupá, which is about 30 minutes away.  This city needs a Bible believing church as well.

We praise the Lord that the church property is paid in full, a total of $28,000! God has met that need, and we are excited about that.  We purchased the 2nd property (30 meters x 40 meters) we had looked at.  We originally liked this property the best, but thought it would be impossible to buy because of the price.  We know nothing is impossible with our Lord.  This Saturday we are having a work day at the property to do some tree work that needs to be done as we would like to finish walling the property next month.  Lord willing, the goal is to start building by the end of this year.  The people are very excited about this and so are we.  One day as I was at a construction store picking up a water hose, I mentioned to the salesperson that the church had purchased property and that we would like to build on it by the end of the year.  A manager was walking by at that moment and said that they would draw up all the plans and have an engineer sign it free of charge since it is a church.

The property has a wooden house on it that at the moment is rented out, and we are honoring the agreement that the previous owners had with the renters.  We did get a rental contract for six months which is a safe guard for the church as well.

Praises: 1. God’s Faithfulness.  2. Salvation of souls.  3. Another couple married.  4. A man to train for the ministry.  5. Church property paid in full.

Prayer Requests: 1.  Salvation of souls.  2. Wisdom in training Edemar.  3. The spiritual growth of the believers here.

Once again, thank you for praying and giving to make this work possible here in Guaranta do Norte.
