“O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.” Ps 107:1
Four times in the book of Psalms we find this verse repeated. And I can honestly say that God is good, all of the time. Sometimes, as we look at present circumstances, things may be a little gloomy, but when we stop and see where God has brought us from, what God has brought us through, what He has kept us from, where He is taking us and what He has promised us, you can’t do anything but give Him thanks.
We just finished celebrating the Thanksgiving season. I am thankful that we were able to spend this one with family and friends. I am thankful that God has taken care of us and protected us during our time of furlough. I am thankful for the 100 churches that God allowed us to be in. I am thankful for the safety that He provided during our 50,000 + miles. I am thankful for the health and strength He has given. I am thankful for our new pastor of our home church. I am thankful for Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist church and Pastor Brian Williams for giving us a place to stay while home on furlough. I am thankful for the people (servants of the Lord) that have played an important part of our lives. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve the Lord. I am thankful for a wife and children who are willing to count the cost to help their husband and father fulfill the task that God has placed before me. I am thankful for the troubles and trials along the way. God allows them for a purpose, to make us more like Him. As I am writing this so many other things come to mind that I am thankful for but space on this sheet of paper does not permit me to do that.
I know that in the last letter I mentioned that God gave us victory over the court case. And that He did. When I read all that the judge wrote, it felt so good to see how God worked all that out. I also want to ask you to continue praying. Even though we won, they appealed the judge’s ruling. As in this country when an appeal is filed, it is looked at to see if there is merit for it to be appealed. So we are now waiting to see if their plea for an appeal will be granted or not. But I do want to take a few lines and thank you once again for your faithfulness in praying for us about this matter. I also want to say I thank God for allowing us to go through this. I am sure I (we) have not learned all that God had for us to learn through this, but He has been doing a great work in my life and family’s lives through all of this. Just preparing us for the next one.
Our Return To The Field
I am thankful that God already provided the tickets. I am thankful that He has blessed us with the funds so we can build the house we need. I am reminded once again of the song “God is so good”.
Now Christmas is upon us. I am so thankful that God loved me so, that He sent His only begotten Son, to pay for my sin debt.
It will be a special treat to be able to spend it with family and friends. And we would like to thank each one of you for making this Christmas a little more special to us in the many different ways that you have done. May God richly bless you and help us remember how good He really is.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR
