September/October 2016

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.”      Col 2:6 and 7

Benjamin

Benjamin continues to improve.  He is doing follow-up treatments here in Cuiaba. It has been a whirlwind of things in the way we look at it, but it was never out of God’s control.  We want to thank each one of you for your prayers for him and the family.  God is answering just as He promised.

Camp

As mentioned in our last prayer letter, we are no longer going to be working in the camp ministry here in Cuiaba.  We are staying here taking care of grounds and maintenance until mid January 2017 as we had promised Peter we would.  It is quite a task.  The whole family stays busy in mowing, fixing water leaks, fixing broken down equipment, reinforcing the fences to keep neighbors cattle out and the cattle here in, and the list goes on.  In doing this, it enables them to be able to have the camps with less worry.  We also assist, where needed missionary John Raehl and others as they ask for assistance.  We are getting ready now for couples camp.  Please pray that God would use missionary Steven Huestis in a great way as he will be the speaker.

Church Plant

Also as mentioned in the previous letter, we have hit some obstacles in dealing with the property documentation.  It came to the point where we were going to have to get a lawyer involved as we were told that this property was going to have to go through the courts.  Since we already have one court battle not finished over a building and property, with the advice from our pastor and the mission board, we will not be pushing this forward.  So you may ask, what are you going to do?  Besides keeping the camp grounds, I have been preaching in the churches where I have been asked and encouraging the pastors.  Many of them, even a missionary in the area, were disappointed that we are not going to remain in the area.  I have challenged them with the great opportunity that God has given them to reproduce themselves.  I told one pastor in particular  that God had given that church two buildings, and that they did not need another missionary to come in to work them, but they needed to work them as the New Testament teaches.  We do not want to rob them of that blessing.  The pastor was very thankful for the incentive and said that they would work on that.  Praise the Lord!!  So until January 2017 we will continue to encourage them and others to push on, not on missionary power, but on the Holy Spirit’s power.

Future Plans

In January 2017 we will be moving up the road about 455 miles to an area where there are no churches of like faith.  We are looking at the city of Guarantã do Norte.  This city has a little over 41 thousand people.  There are three other cities in a 21 mile radius which gives us approximately 93 thousand people with no church of like faith.  The catholic church is very strong in this region.  We just got back from a survey trip there, and God showed us why he wanted us to come to this state. He used the camp ministry to get us here, and then once here used many different methods to open our eyes to the fields beyond.  We are so excited about this and anxious to see what God is going to do.  Please keep us in your prayers as we pray for you.  God is still on the throne, and it is an honor to serve HIM!!

Thank you once again for your faithful service to HIM in praying and giving to help in the work God has placed us in.
